I love to take photos of almost anything....correction...I love to take photos of everything! I believe that any subject or scene has a "best side" and it is my duty and desire to find and take that image. Now when it comes to flowers, almost any angle is a great shot and with some flowers it is even an easier job. Take the flower above, sorry I don't know the name of the flower but it a huge and vastly colourful flower. Its size quickly pulled me from across the greenhouse and its colors kept me fixated for some time. I spent most of my time viewing the various angles through my Iphone 4 until I got this image. And almost immediately, I thought to myself, this plant looks like a painting. The way the colors would gradually bleed into one another. So, I've up-resed the image so that I can print it 16"x20" and plan to hang it next to my Iphone3Gs 16"x20"photo below back in March of 2010.

I have to admit that I don't own a macro lens and that if I did, it would be the Nikon 105AFS! This is a wickedly sharp lens that rates at the top of many lens review lists and my subjective list! I've taken many beautiful shots that I've printed 16"x20" and they never disappoint. But, when I'm in a bind and I don't have the time to run out and rent one of these gems, I just pull out my old trusty 50AFD 1.8 or 24AFD 2.8 and use them. Yup, it is as simple as taking the lens off the camera, reversing the lens and holding it with your hand. Unfortunately there is no auto focus, and you have to set the aperture on the lens manually. The results are pretty nice.
