Cornfest Callingwood Market Sept 8,2012
Just this past weekend the
Callingwood Market.
put on their annual Corn Festival with tons of free buttery, salty, tasty Taber corn
to support a good cause:
Edmonton Firefighter's Burn Treatment Society.
The place was packed with families and the weather was phenomenal!
Sun Sun Sun. It seems that bouncy castles are the norm at community family events these days and the Cornfest took this to a whole- nother- level! They might as well have called the festival the "bouncy castle heaven festival"
with as many as 5 bouncy castles and for most kids to get their fill to last them the winter months. Of course, there were other fun activities and games for the kids like the Cash Grab, or test your strength with ring the bell, or the ever popular race to inflate a and pop balloons using bicycle pumps.
Food was not limited to only corn on the cob, the other food groups were represented at the festival as well. There was also popcorn, cotton candy, Telus Servus was handing out jelly candies, Swiss Chalet
Served up some awesome wraps and chicken spring rolls and of course, hot dogs for all! Music was provided by Up 99.3 and a guest appearance by
Bobby Boogaloo.
, who was a big hit with the kids. But of course, the biggest attraction was the big honking red fire truck and firefighters!
Parents would have to pry their kids hands off of the fire trucks steering wheel so that the next kid could take his/her turn after a good
10 minute wait. I'm afraid every button, switch and lever in the truck was activated! Overall, the event was top notch and a definite
must visit next year.
